.Mac keychains sync

I use .Mac service to synchronize the 3 Macs I use (2 at home, and one at work). The service it expensive at its $99/year in my opinion, but it works flawlessly and oh well.. let's make it "it worths its price".

I synchronize, for example, my Transmit favourites so I can add a new FTP server bookmark at work and then access it at home.

But just last week I have noticed some of newer bookmarks which were added to Transmit during synchronization, don't have passwords set for them. Passwords themselves are not saved in bookmarks, but rather in Mac's Keychain. But since keychains are also set to sync between all Macs, Transmit bookmarks passwords are supposed to be synced too. Unfortunately, that was not the case as it turned out. By looking at the count of keychain items count on these 2 Macs I was surpized to see unmatching number of entries in the same keychains (weird when they are supposed to be in sync, right?). Tried to reset data on both Macs which should be in synchronized state, but it didn't help alot. Tried some other actions but that didn't help either.

I have almost gave up on that (at least put that out till a day I have some time to deal with the problem), but one day I have just been checking on Keychain settings, and found one interesting thing - the main user keychains on both Macs actually were not set to be .Mac syncronized!! Turned out that not only you need to activate keychains synching in the .Mac control panel, but also you have to check whether individual keychains are set to be synced in the Keychain Access utility!!

get synced!!

Turned the bloody checkbox on and all my keychains synchronized in no time! And of course all the Transmit passwords we set also! Easy solution once you know it :) But it costed me nerve cells and a couple of hours of my time :/ Doh.
